چکیده

Methods A highly accelerated prototype cine sequence with sparse sampling and Iterative Reconstruction (sCINE-IR) was used in phantoms and patients to acquire 5 cine slices (2 long axis, LAX and 3 short axis, SAX) through the LA during a single breathhold yielding a spatial/temporal resolution of 1.5mm/30ms (1.5T Aera, Siemens AG, Germany). The LA volumes were reconstructed from these 5 slices using a non-model based method (Bermano A, ACM trans Graph 2011). As a reference in patients, a self-navigated high-resolution whole-heart 3D dataset (3D-HR) was acquired during mid-diastole, from which the LA volume was segmented. Phantom study. Five LA phantoms made of solanum tuberosum L of known volume (water displacement method) and of different shapes were imaged with both 3D-HR and CS in various slice orientations and the calculated volumes were compared. Patients study. Three patients were scanned with both 3D-HR and sCINE-IR. The volumes obtained with 3D-HR and with sCINE-IR during the corresponding mid-diastolic frame were compared using Bland-Altman method and linear regression.

Right-ventricular assessment using a segmented cine acquisition employing iterative SENSE reconstruction with spatio-temporal L1 regularization: Initial clinical experience

Background Cardiac MR (CMR) has emerged as the gold standard for assessing right-ventricular (RV) size and function with cine acquisitions. However, dyspnea often accompanies RV dysfunction, limiting patient ability to breathhold and consequently image quality at CMR. The application of a novel iterative reconstruction technique to segmented CMR cine acquisitions may enable higher acceleration ...

Single breath-hold real-time MR cardiac cine for evaluation of left ventricular function

Background Magnetic Resonance (MR) cardiac cine is generally accepted as the gold standard for left ventricular (LV) volume assessment. Recently, Real-Time (RT) cine with sparse sampling technique and iterative reconstruction has been applied to accelerate cine MR. However, in prospective electrocardiogram (ECG) triggered RT cine MR, it may be difficult to capture the true end diastole phase be...

Free-breathing real-time cardiac cine MR for evaluation of left-ventricular function: Comparison to standard multi-breath-hold cardiac cine MR in 50 patients

Background Electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated breath-hold cardiac cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is generally accepted as the gold standard for left-ventricular (LV) volume assessment. However, it may fail in patients with arrhythmia, impaired breath-hold capacity, and poor ECG gating. Recently, sparse real-time (RT) cine using a prototype sequence with sparse sampling and iterative reconstru...

Evaluation of diastolic function by three-dimensional volume tracking of the mitral annulus with cardiovascular magnetic resonance: comparison with tissue Doppler imaging

BACKGROUND Measurement of mitral annulus (MA) dynamics is an important component of the evaluation of left ventricular (LV) diastolic function; MA velocities are commonly measured using tissue Doppler imaging (TDI). This study aimed to examine the clinical potential of a semi-automated cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) technique for quantifying global LV diastolic function, using 3D volum...

High resolution ultra-fast sparse sampling with iterative reconstruction imaging for left ventricular evaluation: clinical comparison with standard SSFP imaging

Background Cardiovascular MRI (CMR) has the advantages of high temporal and spatial resolution with excellent endocardial definition, but ECG-gated cine SSFP imaging requires multiple sequential breath-holds and is time-consuming. Sparse sampling with iterative reconstructionallows for ultra-fast acquisitions of SSFP cine images. The accuracy of this technique compared to standard SSFP imaging ...
